Almost all high school dance teams have some type of tryout or audition process.

ABOUT THE TEAM

​

At Jefferson, everyone that makes the team, is on the “School Team.” The School team performs sidelines and half-times of Varsity football games and Varsity Girls and Boys basketball games. They also perform at Pep-rallies, assemblies, and parades. 

​

Sidelines: Are as they sound—dancers stand on the sidelines during entire game and perform short 2-3, 8 count routines during time-outs or when the band or music begins to play.

​

The Jefferson Dance Team does compete throughout the season, but competition is optional and each member of the School Team must re-tryout per competition routine. There will be opportunities for each member of the School Team to tryout for the optional Competition Teams.

Tryouts are April 11, 2026 from 8 AM - 11 AM in the New Gym 

The new team is announced immediately following tryouts, and A *MANDATORY parent meeting will follow. Parents need to arrive by 11 AM*

 

Please come to Tryouts wearing all black, preferably tight-fitting clothes (no sweats) wearing dance shoes or barefoot and have your hair pulled back out of your face. Please also bring tennis shoes and a water bottle with you.

If you cannot make the tryout date or if distance is an issue, contact Coach Jenny at jamundson@crschools.us for video submission requirements and details. Video tryouts need to be submitted by April 13, 2025.

Tryout Prep Workshops​

​

Nervous about tryouts? Not sure what to expect? Join the team for Tryout Prep Workshops April 7, 8, 9 from 3:00 - 5:30 PM in the JHS Main Gym. We will go over skills and technique that you will be asked to demonstrate at tryouts. We will also prep you on how to pick up choreography and what our Judges will be looking for! Don't miss out on a great opportunity to prepare for Tryouts!

Tryout Registration will open March 14, 2026. 

You must register if you plan to tryout.
