Meet the Coaches


Jenny
HEAD COACH
Jenny first began her dance career in early high school and studied at the National Dance Academy in Iowa City and Coralville. She was a 4-year member of the Lone Tree High School Varsity Dance Team and placed 10th in the ISDTA Solo Dance Championships in 2011. She also received the ISDTA Dance Scholarship and was a member of the All-Iowa Dance Team the same year.
After graduation, she attended Central College and danced on their competitive team, but after a year she received a scholarship to dance at Grand View University where she was honored to be a captain and receive honorable mention as a NAIA All-American dancer in the state of Iowa. She competed at the ISDTA and NAIA national competitions for three years and helped the GVU Dance Team take 1st – 3rd National Titles. While in school, she taught classes at Main Street Studios in Panora, IA.
Jenny earned her B.A. in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations and Graphic Design. Post-college, she danced on the Storm Chasers Dance Team for the Des Moines, Iowa Arena Football Team: The Barnstormers. A year later, she moved to Los Angeles and danced for LA Contemporary Dance Company and taught classes at Dancer's World Production. After two years in LA, Jenny moved to Salt Lake City, UT and danced for the Salt Lake City Ballet Company before a career-ending injury brought her back to her home state.
Jenny is now the head coach of the Jefferson High School Dance Team and choreographs the Prairie High School musicals, local show choirs and community theater productions. She also teaches classes at Studio360 in Cedar Rapids and assists with their All-Stars & 360 Worlds Competition Teams.
In her free time, she loves to travel with her husband and spoil her 9-month-old daughter, Penelope—who also LOVES dance!
Layla
Assistant Coach
Layla has been dancing since she was little. She took classes the Pointe School of Dance and has been a member of the J-Hawks Dance Team the last four years.

Layla is currently studying Criminal Justice at Kirkwood and plans to join the police academy after obtaining her degree. She is a member of the Kirkwood Spirit Squad and will compete with the team at local and ISDTA Competitions.
